Pawsitive Steps LLC provides animal-assisted coaching to help children develop or improve their reading skills. The program is based on the nationally-recognized Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.®) model, which was established by Intermountain Therapy Animals in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1999.

Reading to a dog presents an opportunity to practice in the company of an attentive, unbiased listener. The relaxed atmosphere allows a child to proceed at his/her own pace without fear or intimidation, and the facilitator works with the dog to assist the reader with pronunciation or comprehension challenges.

Sessions at Pawsitive Steps LLC are fun experiences that build confidence, encourage social interaction, and motivate continued progress toward improved vocabulary, comprehension and fluency. The goal is to foster a postive attitude toward reading and learning.
